Hopefully, the irony of this title picture made you smile. Heaven knows...we all could use one about now!
In following the daily global news cycle, I constantly see situations where the underlying irony makes me shake my head in disbelief. This week's post is going to highlight just a few recent "ironies" that I think will leave you shaking your head, as well.
Irony is the clash between expectations and outcomes. A perfect example of situational irony would be posting on Facebook complaining about how useless Facebook is.
And isn't this what's happening in today's culture? Many people tend to see only what's on the surface and totally miss the underlying irony of the situation.
Here are a few recent examples of what I mean...
The Biden Administration has committed nearly $60 BILLION in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Since February 2022 when the Russian invasion of Ukraine started, this equates to a mind-numbing $300 MILLION per DAY!
Ironically, just this week, the Pentagon told our soldiers in uniform who, like many Americans, are struggling with inflation: "If we're not paying you enough to feed yourselves and your families, apply for welfare." Yep, food stamps for our soldiers. How shameful is that?
Everyone knows that our southern border is being overrun with migrants entering our country illegally. Nearly 5 million illegals have entered the country since Biden took office. To put that number in perspective, that's more than than the individual populations of 25 states and more than 100 countries and territories.
Here are several ironies related to the border crisis:
Mayors of so-called "sanctuary cities" are upset that governors of red states are busing illegal immigrants to them. The Mayor of Washington, D.C., Muriel Bowser, has requested that the National Guard be called out to help with the "crisis." She has also now declared a public emergency. Washington DC Councilmember Brianne Nadeau said, “In many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town."
Chicago mayor, Lori Lightfoot, also a proponent of "sanctuary cities," welcomed migrants bussed in from Texas. But in a classic example of irony (and hypocrisy), she then turned around and bussed those same migrants to an affluent "Republican" suburb.
Isn't it ironic that blue cities who declare themselves "sanctuaries" (by refusing to enforce immigration laws) are now crying over being forced to welcome those same illegals whom they say are always welcome?
And Vice President Kamala Harris told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press yesterday, September 11, 2022, that the border is secure. Really?
Another irony is that the CDC policy states that, "Non-U.S. citizens, non-U.S. immigrants must show proof of being fully vaccinated with the primary series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine before you board your flight to the United States." Sadly, that policy prevented unvaccinated Wimbledon Champion and former No. 1 ranked tennis star, Novak Djokovic, from playing in the U.S. Open. Yet, the Biden regime has allowed 5 million illegal immigrants to walk across the border and disappear into the country without being vaccinated. How is that "following the science"?
And speaking of vaccines, there is plenty of irony to go around. As students are returning to classes at universities here in the U.S., as well as Canada and Mexico, vaccine mandates are still in effect. Students are being told that they MUST have a THIRD dose of the vaccine or else they will be "dis-enrolled."
This, ironically, comes at the same time a group of scientists from Harvard, Johns Hopkins and other top universities, released a study that says that mandating students to be vaxxed is "unethical" because the vaccine is up to 98 times more dangerous than COVID-19, itself.
And, just in case you didn't know, it's no longer a "booster." It's an "updated vaccine."
The CDC recently told us that a vaccine isn't a vaccine the way we think of a vaccine and that's why they changed the definition of "vaccine." Isn't it ironic that the definition gets changed when it's learned that the vaccine doesn't stop the spread OR the infection of COVID-19?
On August 31st, the FDA amended and updated the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for a new "bi-valent vaccine;" or, as the White House Press Secretary calls it, an "updated booster." This new vaccine from Moderna and Pfizer contains mRNA from the original "Wuhan" strain of SARS-CoV-2, as well as a shared mRNA component of the BA.4 and BA.5 lineages of the Omicron variant.
But, ironically, NO human studies were done before the approval of these new “updated boosters.” NONE.
The study that WAS performed was done on...drumroll, please...eight mice.
It's science, baby!
Umm, no thanks, I'll pass.
California recently passed a law banning the sale of new gasoline-engine vehicles by 2035.
Ironically, a few days later, California Governor Gavin Newsome pleaded with citizens to NOT charge their electric vehicles because it would strain the electric grid.
As Sacramento is boiling in 115-degree heat, did you catch the irony of the gov wearing a hat and a fleece jacket emblazoned with a polar bear?
And then there's this:
Gotta love the irony of using a gasoline-powered generator to charge an electric car!
And speaking of climate hysteria, one of the things that the progressives are pushing is the elimination of meat in the human diet to save the planet. They want us to eat bugs. You see, the methane gas produced by cow flatulence is causing global warming.
But ironically, the climate justice warriors neglect to mention one thing, as pointed out on Twitter by conservative personality, Catturd:
A study published by the New England Journal of Medicine has determined that monkeypox, the new "plague du jour," is most prevalent among gay and bisexual men.
Accordingly, the Biden administration has appointed a new monkeypox czar.
Meet Demetre Daskalakis:
I believe people have the right to choose their own lifestyles. But ironically, on the surface at least, you might conclude he'd be the one out of a thousand most likely to contract monkeypox.
California Democrat Congresswoman and candidate for Los Angeles Mayor, Karen Bass, said her home was burglarized on Friday, September 9, 2022.
Karen Bass, is a supporter of Fidel Castro and has voted 100% of the time AGAINST gun rights and gun ownership.
Where's the irony? Well, it turns out that Karen Bass is a gun owner. She reported that two firearms that were "safely and securely stored" were taken. She actually DOES support the Second Amendment...just not for the rest of us.
Ghislaine Maxwell has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex-trafficking of children.
Isn't it ironic that she trafficked children...to no one?
How many times have we heard the well-worn progressive/liberal trope that, "White men are a threat to America?"
How ironic is is it, then, that some of the most outspoken progressives of color are in relationships with...another drumroll please...WHITE MEN!

I can't wait to see this next week's news cycle. Ironically, I'm already starting to feel like Lucky the dog.

As a retired nurse who practiced her profession for over 31 years I find myself utterly confused regarding vaccinations, boosters and on and on!! What is going on in our country on a daily basis is not only scary but terrifying!!!
